Life isn’t about waiting for the thunderstorm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

When Sally and I were in Africa, we had to wake up at 5am to trek many hours after the animals such as silver back gorrillas. At 67 , such activities should make me feel tired if I allowed it, but, as always, I never felt sorry for myself. Being in the army from ’66- 69 built me to never feel sorry for myself – for such feelings become self-fulfilling!
Have you heard that “Man is the only animal on earth that feels sorry for itself.”?
One of my best friends contracted a life ending decease (ALS) a few years ago and was still sailing his large boat till this year, without a crew, except for his loving wife of 50 years! – he is doing what he has always done! Putting 1 foot in front of the other and moving forward, albeit more gingerly now, in a very positive manner! He has not 1 ounce of self-pity or remorse and continues to assist others. I am blessed to call him my friend since 1972! He is my hero and God Father to my youngest son who just got married at Guthrie Castle.
Never lose heart and always kept your attitude high and in proper perspective!
This is what I have believed all my life, as I have fallen from certain points in my long career. And mind you, I had fallen from high points! As I always say, it is not what happens to you in life that makes a difference! It is how we react to what happens to us in life that creates our history and future!
